Pink & White nails, also known as French tips, are a look consisting of white tips on a pink nail base. Unlike toothpaste-thick gel products of the past, today’s gels have a similar consistency to nail polish. They are brushed onto your nails and nail tips to extend length. After the nail technician applies each coat, they must put your nails under ultraviolet (UV) light for up to 2 minutes to “cure” or harden the product. There is no odor during the application process.
One method for building a Pink & White Gel Extension involves using French white or natural-colored, well-less tips. Applying a full set of Pink & White Gel nails using this method, follow the steps recommended in our service’s gel system instructions, which will be approximately as follows:
Step 1: Prep the nail. Trim and shape the free edge, buff the entire surface of your nails with a light-grit file to remove the shine and surface oil, push back the cuticle, remove any excess dead tissue from sidewall to sidewall, clean your nail with a cleanser or dehydrate it, and allow your nail to air dry.
Step 2: Apply the tip using adhesive resin or glue, making sure the well is placed evenly on each nail.
Step 3: Pre-etch tips by using an electric file and arbor band to remove the shine before placing the tips on the nails. We use downtime to prepare an ample supply.
Step 4: Apply a bonding agent to the nail as system requires – there are several kinds out there, from very thin bonder gels to traditional primers to protein-based sticky bonders.
Step 5: Apply clear or pink gel over the entire nail plate and extension. Apply a base gel, then a builder gel to create strength in the stress area, and possibly a gloss coat for shine.
